Make a Plan…

…and start small! We all have lofty goals of cleaning out our entire house or completely cutting out sweets or working out every day. But it doesn’t happen overnight. Here is a simple list for how to get started, no matter what your goal is.

  1. Just start
  2. Start small
  3. Have an end goal
  4. Have milestone goals

I spent yesterday writing a list of all the different places in my house that I want to tackle. We have another tiny human coming into our life at some point in the next 8 weeks and I want to simplify our house as much as possible before she arrives. Some would call this nesting but it is honestly something that I have been talking about doing for a while…you can ask my husband or my mom! My starting point was making this list.

Now that I have started with my plan I am going to begin executing. Do not let yourself get overwhelmed. Do not put pressure on yourself to get this done in a day, a weekend or even a week. Do not even put pressure on yourself to finish the entire list.

I spend the majority of my time in the kitchen/living room part of my house so that is where I am going to start. I have decided to start with the upper cabinets but you can start even smaller with something like the junk drawer or the silverware drawer.

Our Kitchen

Over the next few weeks I am going to share with you my before, during and after photos as well as products and steps I use to simplify our home. From the outside looking in it may seem that we are organized and simple but behind the doors we are working with a hot mess. Here are some of the before pictures to get you prepared for what we are working with!

I also follow a few people who give me inspiration for my projects. If you love organizing, you will love them too!

So here is my list-

  1. Just Start – made a list of what I want to accomplish
  2. Start Small – decided to tackle my kitchen upper cabinets first
  3. Have an end goal – scratching every line item off of my list
  4. Have milestone goals – I will work to tackle each room starting with the kitchen

Let’s get going!! Want to join me?
